21 Trafficked Minors From Niger Rescued As Bago’s Govt Vows To End All Forms Of Criminalities

Niger State Government has reiterated that it will continue to evolve strategies to bring to an end all forms of criminalities in the State.

Niger State Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba stated this at a Press Conference held at his Office to give further details about the rescued children.

He explained that the 21 children who are from Magama Local Government Area were rescued from a syndicate of human traffickers in Geidam, Yobe State where they were alleged to be enroute to Niger Republic.

Comrade Yakubu Garba further disclosed that further investigations are still being carried out to get to the root of the matter while the rescued children along with the alleged trafficker are under the custody of the Department of State Security, Niger State.

While describing the incident as a disturbing circumstance, the Deputy Governor said Niger State Government is conscious of its obligation and will not allow any person to be subjected to inhumane treatment irrespective of social, cultural, religious or educational backgrounds.

He also re assured that the State Government is in tandem with the Federal Governments measures that will tame human trafficking and will not condone any act that is a treat to peace and stability of the State.

Comrade Garba re affirmed Farmer Governor Umaru Bago’s deliberate attempt in addressing acts of violence and terrorism through provision of employment opportunities and poverty alleviation policies with a decisive approach to ensure restoration of peace and human dignity.

He used the medium to call on traditional rulers, Council Chairmen, religious leaders and parents to always be vigilant and report any suspicious movement or activities of persons to the Law enforcement agencies as the Government will deal decisively with anyone who aids human trafficking under any guise.

The Deputy Governor appreciated security agencies and particularly the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons NAPTIP for their efforts in the arrest of the suspect involved in the crime and subsequent profiling and return of the victims to Niger State.

The Deputy Governor was flanked by the DSS Director Niger State, Niger State Police Commissioner, Niger State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and the Commissioner for Homeland security.
