FCMB’s Customers Go Angry Over Mysterious Deductions

The last five days have been a torrid period for a major branch of financial institutions FCMB (First City Monument Bank) in Ogun State.

Societynow.ng gathered that a larger percentage of those that thronged the complaint unit of the branch located in Joju, Sango came for a major reason – mysterious deductions.

Sources disclosed that the complainants claim deductions were made from their accounts without getting debit notifications.

‘They just kept telling everybody to fill forms that the complaints would be worked on” societynow.ng learned.

According to a source “different amounts were deducted ranging from five thousand Naira to fifty thousand Naira to seventy-five thousand Naira. Someone even claimed they deducted one hundred thousand Naira from his bank account and was raising hell with one of the customer service officers for her seemingly lacking interest in his case”

A source confirmed fifty thousand Naira was mysteriously deducted from her account and she didn’t receive any “alert” ( debit notification).

“I reserved the money for something else and wanted to do the transaction and I got an insufficient fund notice. I went to the bank to complain and I saw a crowd of customers with the same issue and tempers were high with some cursing the bank for (allegedly) defrauding them” a source disclosed.

“I have been there twice this week and had to join a long queue of other customers with the same issue before I was attended to” the source disclosed.

Societynow.ng gathered that the customers were asked a standard question of whether they received a phone call or prompt text message before the deductions – virtually all those who came to complain claimed otherwise.

“I didn’t receive any call or text message, I didn’t even know when the deduction was made and virtually all those I met there said the same thing” a source stated.

Societynow.ng gathered that such a complaint is not peculiar at that particular branch of FCMB -the bank with Adam Nuru as helmsman, especially at this time of the year.
