Former VP Atiku Abubakar Says Koo Social Media Account In His Name Is Fake
The former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has spoken on trending information that he has activated a Koo social media account.
In a statement made available by Paul Ibe, his media Adviser, today June 12, 2021, the former presidential Candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) insisted the social media handle is fake.
The statement on behalf of Mr Abubakar urging the public to discountenance the fake handles reads…
This is to call the public’s attention to fake handles on a social media platform known as Koo App impersonating former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar.
We are compelled to make this alert because information and details on the fake Koo accounts have been lifted from other social media platforms where Atiku Abubakar holds verified handles. And this may cause unsuspecting members of the public to be misled into wrongly mistaking postings on these fake accounts as being authoritatively that of the Waziri of Adamawa.
For the avoidance of doubt, Atiku Abubakar is not on the Koo social media platform, and the public should discountenance these fake handles.
All Atiku Abubakar’s social media handles are verified and have been running for a couple of years.
We, therefore, urge the public not to be misled by the antics of criminal elements who impersonate by creating fake social media handles, especially as it relates to Atiku Abubakar.
We also call on law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate this criminal activity and bring the culprit(s) to book.
