Ease Of Doing Business: Osun Moves Up 11 Places, Ranked 15th In Subnational Ranking

Osun has moved up 11 places from 26th position to rank 15th among the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory in the recently released Subnational Ease of Doing Business ranking.

The survey was conducted by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council(PEBEC) chaired by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, had its methodology framework developed by the PEBEC-NEC(National Economic Council) technical working group.

The group comprised of representatives from the nations six(6) geopolitical zones included the NEC secretariat, Nigeria’s Governor’s Forum, the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics, the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group and other Private Sector representatives.

It will be recalled that the Governor Adegboyega Oyetola administration convened the Osun Economic and Investment Summit in November 2019 leading to the institution of the Osun Investment Promotion Agency ad a foundation for the economic transformation of the state.

This was followed by the inauguration of the Osun Ease of Business Council and the “One Stop Shop” by His Excellency Governor Oyetola aimed at ensuring a friendly environment for commerce, business, investments and investors.

Speaking on the development, the Special Adviser to the Governor and Chief Executive Officer, Osun Investment Promotion Agency-OSIPA, Mr, ‘Femi Adeniran attributed the achievement to the support and commitment of His Excellency Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the contributions of the leadership and teams across all arms of government, ministries and parastatals who have been working tirelessly to ensure the mandate of the administration is delivered for the benefits of the people of Osun.

Noting further, he said: “we are still a work in progress and are determined to improve on this present ranking to get Osun to its pride of place among the comity of states where businesses thrive. We are grateful for the support and guidance we have been getting from the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Ease of Doing Business and Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission as we look forward to continuous collaboration with all relevant stakeholders and Federal and State level.
