Details As Zamfara Gov Matawalle Dumps PDP

There are indications the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle has dumped the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

A presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, hinted he has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a Facebook post.

“So Zamfara is back home, Welcome Matawalle,” he wrote.

Mr. Bashir Ahmad made post in the early hours of today, June 27, 2021.

Matawalle and his government are yet to issue any official statement to set the record straight.

This development is coming after June 1, 2021 dissolution of the state Executive Council by Matawalle reportedly in preparation for his planned move to the APC.

But he immediately reacted and insisted the cabinet dissolution has nothing to do with any planned party switch.

Interestingly, the governor’s Wikipedia page indicated he’s still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
