Trust Building And Dialogue As Panacea For Nigeria’s Security Challenges – Lagos NIPR

Policy makers should adopt the strategic PR tools of Trust building and Dialogue as a veritable tool for solving the insecurity challenges in Nigeria.

This was the position of Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in commemoration of the World PR Day, on Friday July 16, 2021.

As the profession promoting shared understanding, Lagos NIPR believes that the right application of the tactics and components of the profession will promote dialogue and trust among the different warring factions in the country.

According to the flagship Chapter, the application of trust and dialogue will help to reduce prejudice and builds up mutual confidence which will reduce agitation and create a more peaceful society.

Lagos NIPR posits further that by establishing channels for dialogue in times of crisis, the pains of victims will be soothed, tensions will be lessened and there will be amicable resolutions of disagreements among the different stakeholders in the country.

The most populated Chapter of Communication professionals in Nigeria argues that dialogue will breed and promote mutual understanding and respect and therefore ensure that the nation is continuously placed on the path of development.

The Lagos Chapter of NIPR therefore call on all policy makers at all levels of government to prioritise the need to engage certified Public Relations professionals to lead their communication and dialogue efforts.

World PR Day is celebrated every year on July 16.
