Why Gov Matawalle Threatened Deputy Mahdi Aliyu
The governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle has issued a threat to his deputy, Mahdi Aliyu.
According to report, the governor who recently dump the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) outrightly told Mr Aliyu he will get “the treatment he deserves” if he dares him.
Deputy governor Aliyu is the son of the former National Security Adviser, General Aliyu Muhammed Gusau.
He refused to move with his boss to his new political party.
The threat against his person by Governor Matawalle came to be after he staged a rally where he addressed members of the Peoples Democratic Party, the platform that brought him and the governor to power, to reaffirm his loyalty.
This development, highstreet.ng gathered, did not go well with the governor who described his deputy’s action as disrespectful in a chat with the Hausa Service of Deutsch Welle.
Nasiru Magarya led Zamfara State House of Assembly had faulted Aliyu for holding the rally in spite of security challenges in the state.
Matawalle said, “I won’t join issues with him. But if he dares me, I will give him the treatment he deserves”.
He reportedly made the comment hours after the State House of Assembly invited the deputy governor to come and explain why he held the rally without regard for the current security situation in the state and ”in disrespect of advice by the security authorities in the state”.
