Why Court Adjourned Fred Ajudua’s $8.4m Fraud Trial Again

The trial of popular fraudster, Fred Ajudua has been adjourned again.

Mr Ajudu is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

The development was at the instance of his lawyer, Mr Olalekan Ojo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Mr Ojo, today, October 18, 2021 sought the adjournment before the trial judge, Justice Josephine Oyefeso of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ajah, Lagos

Mr Ajudua is standing trial for allegedly obtaining under false pretense the sum of $8.4m from Ishaya Bamaiyi, a former Chief of Army Staff.

Ajudua allegedly perfected the fraudulent act while he and the former army general were serving jail terms in Ikoyi Prison, Lagos in 2004 for separate offences.

Ajudua, alongside his accomplices, had allegedly talked Bamaiyi into an arrangement that he could access the legal services of Chief Afe Babalola, SAN, at the cost of $8.4m to help secure his release.
