Ex-Govs Dariye, Nyame Finally Freed From Kuje Prison

Former governor of Plateau, Joshua Dariye, and his Taraba State counterpart, Mr. Jolly Nyame, have been freed from Kuje Correctional Centre.

Kuje Correctional Centre, located in Federal Capital Territory Abuja, was recently attacked by terrorists.

Messrs Dariye and Nyame were committed to jail after the Supreme Court pronounced them guilty of various corruption charges levelled against their persons by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

The duo ruled their respective states between 1999 and 2007.

The criminal charges that saw them spending more than four years behind bars were perpetrated when were in charge of their respective states.

They were reportedly released from prison today, August 8, 2022.

The development came to be almost four months after they were granted Presidential pardons by President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari approved their pardons on April 14, 2022.
