“False And Mischievous” Deputy Gov Hamzat Speaks On Son Joining Obidient Rally
The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, has reacted to a claim on social media that his son was part of the October 1st rally staged across the city of Lagos by supporters of Peter Obi, the presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
An image of a young man captioned “The Lagos State Deputy Governor’s son Femi Hamzat, joins the obidient rally in support of Peter Obi” had gone viral.
But reacting to the online item on Sunday, September 2, 2022, through Tunde Alao, a Senior Special Assistant on Media in the office of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Hamzat said the picture is neither of his son nor any of his relatives.
“Attention of the Office of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State has been drawn to an online picture of an individual captioned“ The Lagos State Deputy Governor’s son Femi Hamzat, joins the obidient rally in support of Peter Obi” which has gone viral on the social media.
For the avoidance of doubt, the gentleman in the displayed photograph is neither the Deputy Governor’s son nor his relative”, the statement signed by Mr. Tunde Alao partly read.
He further tagged the viral item as “another mischievous, false, and malicious attempt to cause friction between the Deputy Governor and his admirers and loyalists across the Nation.”

The viral message is another mischievous, false, and malicious attempt to cause friction between the Deputy Governor and his admirers and loyalists across the Nation.
Dr. Hamzat has a reputation for commitment and loyalty to the Sanwo-Olu-led administration and the All Progressives Congress. His support is for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima. Our party and all our supporters are working hard to ensure that our candidates get the votes of Nigerians. Ours is not about bogus statistics and lies.
Any attempt to denigrate his character by spewing falsehoods about his family will remain a vain and futile attempt until eternity.
Supporters of the Labour Party should get serious with their campaigns and desist from cheap tactics that would not yield any political gains.
We hope that Nigerians will detect these tendencies to deceive and see it for what it is. It is too late in the day to keep lying to Nigerians. It won’t work.
