This Oyetola’s Main Man Is First Major Casualty Of Adeleke’s Govt

Adegboyega Famodun, an ally of former governor Adegboyega Oyetola, has become the first major casualty of Ademola Adeleke’s reign as the executive governor of Osun State.

His appointment and installation as a traditional ruler have just been invalidated by the new administration of Ademola Adeleke.

Adeleke, who was sworn in as the sixth elected governor of the state yesterday, issued an executive order to that effect today, November 28, 2022, highstreet.ng understands.

Former governor Oyetola had – six days to the expiration of his administration- on Monday, November 21, 2022, approved the appointment of Famodun as the new Owa of Igbajo in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State. He was subsequently handed the staff of Office the following day.

Until he was appointed monarch by the immediate past governor who had, after losing the July 16 gubernatorial election, embarked on serial appointments and installations of traditional rulers, Famodun was the chairman of the Osun State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr. Famodun was part of the arrangement that swung the APC guber ticket the way of Oyetola against the wish of former governor Rauf Aregbesola, a major player in the politics of Osun State.

“All appointments of traditional rulers made by Osun State Government after 17th July, 2022, are hereby ordered to be reviewed to ensure there was strict compliance with due process of chieftaincy declarations and native law, custom, and tradition relating to such chieftaincies. In the case of Ikirun, Iree, and Igbajo, to avoid further breakdown of law and order, the appointments of Akinrun of Ikinrun, Aree of Ire and Owa of Igbajo are hereby put on hold pending review. Subsequently, the palaces of Akinrun of Ikirun, Aree of Iree and Owa of Igbajo should remain unoccupied, while security agencies are hereby ordered to take charge” The executive order signed and made available by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the Spokesperson to Governor Adeleke partly read.
