Why Tinubu Suspended EFCC Boss, Bawa

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the suspension of the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), AbdulRasheed Bawa.

His suspension was made known in a statement by Willie Basse, the Director of Information in the office the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

According to the statement, issued today June 14, 2023, his suspension became necessary to proper look into allegations of abuse of office levelled against his person as boss of the nation’s anti-graft agency.

The statement reads, “This follows weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.

“Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.”
