IGP Egbetokun Talks Establishment Of Special Intervention Squad With US Senior Advisor Shaun J. Gavin

In a landmark meeting on Monday, October 16th at the Hilton Bayfront, San Diego, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D., engaged in further purposive discussions with Senior Advisor Shaun J. Gavin, representing the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the United States Embassy in Abuja. The focus of the dialogue centred on fortifying the collaboration between the two nations in the realm of law enforcement, particularly concerning the establishment and operationalization of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS).

Expressing mutual commitment, the IGP and Senior Advisor Shaun J. Gavin deliberated on key areas of partnership aimed at bolstering the SIS. The SIS, a crucial initiative of the IGP, signifies a specialized response to prevailing security challenges, with a keen focus on regions grappling with conflict and terrorist threats. The meeting emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration in enhancing the capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force and contributing to regional stability.

Tracing the bond between the Transitional Police Unit (TPU) and the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), this collaboration addresses critical gaps in regions facing conflict and terrorist threats.
