Assertions Tinubu Advised Buhari To Print Naira Untrue

Assertions that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu advised the past government of Muhammadu Buhari to print Naira notes that resulted in the current economic situation and hardship in the land are Untrue after all, checks by highstreet.ng have revealed.

The spurious assertions were reportedly made by, Paul Ibe, Media Adviser to the main opposition leader, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku is the Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Tinubu was roundly defeated during the 2023 general election.

Mr Ibe hinged his unfounded claims on March 29, 2020 “misreport” Tinubu immediately put in proper perspective.

Correcting the misinformation via a statement widely reported by the news media, including Thisday Newspaper, the following day – March 30, 2020 – Tinubu said “One thing I absolutely did not call for was the literal printing of new naira notes by the Federal Government. Such a suggestion is extremely far-fetched and has never been on my mind. It is unfortunate that my prescriptions were badly misunderstood and misreported”.
