The passing of Deputy Chief of Staff, Gboyega Soyannwo has truly left the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu devastated.
Referred to by the Executive Governor as “a trusted ally and a beloved brother”, Mr Soyannwo breathed his last on May 15, 2024, after a brief illness.

His funeral took place today, May 23, 2024.

Today, we bid farewell to my friend, brother and Deputy Chief of Staff, Gboyega Soyannwo.
Gboyega’s legacy is vast, and his absence has left a profound void within our team and our mission. He was more than just a DCoS; he was a trusted ally and a beloved brother.
His steadfast belief in our goals and his relentless work ethic were the cornerstone of many of our accomplishments. His unwavering commitment to our shared dream of a Greater Lagos will forever echo in our hearts.

While we grieve his departure, we take comfort in the enduring impact he had on all of us. We take solace in the belief that he is now resting in a better place.
My deepest sympathies and prayers are with the Soyannwo family during this challenging period. Gboyega’s zeal for progress and his selfless dedication to Lagos State will serve as a beacon of inspiration for us all. Let us all aspire to live as he did—embracing our community with devotion and compassion.
