Gov Eno Hails Team Akwa Ibom As Nigeria Wins Schools Debate In Singapore

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has felicitated the victorious delegation of Akwa Ibom State who represented Nigeria at the just-concluded Bilateral International School Debate in Singapore.

Governor Umo Eno who gave the felicitations as part of his opening remarks on Day 2 of the 2025 Budget Estimate Review meeting of the enlarged State Executive Council, at Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, Uyo, congratulated Nigeria on the victory while expressing the delight of the government and people of Akwa Ibom State for the selection of the State’s indigenes to represent the nation.

The Governor also commended the Ministry of Education for the good work on the students who were mostly drawn from public schools and thanked Nigeria’s Education Minister, Professor Tahir Mamman, for identifying the prowess of the Akwa Ibom children and sharing in the sentiments of the people of the state over their remarkable victory.

“The federal government had chosen Akwa Ibom to represent it in the international students debate in Singapore and our students went. I just received word that they won.

“We thank God for what He is doing for our state and we thank the Ministry of Education and all those that helped those children. The Honourable Minister of Education called me and was so happy,” he said.

The delegation was made up of: Aniebiet-Abasi Enobong Etukudo from Government Secondary School, Afaha Eket, Emmanuel Godfrey Wiafe from Community Secondary School, Aka Offot, Victory Mfonobong Daniel from Nigerian Christian Institute, Favour Daniel Paul from Christian Secondary Commercial School, Uyo and Marvelous Nkereuwem James from Tevees International Secondary School, Uyo.

The team was supervised by: Dr. Glory Ekpo, a director in the Ministry of Education,  Dr. Eka Elijah Maples ( Education Consultant) from Mobil Pegasus School as Observer and Mrs. Grace Godwin Edinyang from Government Secondary School, Afaha Eket as debate Coach.

Speaking on the constitution of cabinets for the new Local Government Councils, the Governor reiterated his appeal to leaders and stakeholders in each area to ensure equitable distribution of appointments to accommodate wider interests as well as reinforce the popularity of government at the grassroots.
