Ekiti Airport Among The World’s Best, Air Peace CEO Onyema Declares

The Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace Limited, Dr Allen Onyema, has commended Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, describing it as one of the best in the world in terms of infrastructure and operational readiness.

Dr Onyema, who arrived at the airport on Saturday at about 10 am aboard a Boeing 737 aircraft, lauded the quality of the apron, runway, and terminal building, stating that they are highly functional and aesthetically outstanding.

Speaking with journalists after landing, he emphasised the airport’s potential as a strategic asset for domestic and international flights, positioning Ekiti State for significant aviation activities. He further noted that the facility is capable of accommodating larger aircraft, including the Boeing 777, and expressed his commitment to partnering with the state as soon as commercial operations commence.

“This is the first time a Boeing 737 is landing here, and as an aviator, I can categorically say this is one of the best airports in the world. Even the pilot confirmed that this is one of the best runways he has ever seen. It is just a matter of time before Ekiti pilgrims and travellers begin to fly from here,” Onyema stated.

The Technical Adviser to the Governor on Airport Project, AVM Sunday Makinde (rtd), described the seamless landing of the Boeing 737 as a clear testament to the airport’s readiness for full commercial operation, adding that the milestone demonstrates the airport’s capacity to handle large aircraft and deliver seamless aviation services.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Information, Rt Hon Taiwo Olatunbosun, described the airport project as a transformative project for the state. He said the landing of the Boeing 737 at the airport is a testament to the determination of the state government under the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, to enhance infrastructure development for economic growth and connectivity.
