APC Governors Seek More FG’s Investments In Key Economic Sectors
Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of the Progressives Governors Forum have called on the Federal Government to further boost the economic recovery being witnessed in the county with expanded investments in key sectos of the economy.
They stated this on Saturday, June 28, 2025, after the conclusion of its first regional meeting in Benin City, Edo State, where Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno was formally welcomed to the Forum.
The governors noted that the current economic growth must be further democratized through investments in food security, job creation, poverty alleviation, MSMEs and social safety nets.
Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma who read the communique on behalf of his colleagues, welcomed the increase in fiscal transfers to states and the emerging investor confidence in Nigeria’s economic outlook, while pledging to build on the momentum to deliver infrastructure that unlocks productivity and drive inter-state competitiveness.
The Forum also commended Nigeria’s security agencies as well as the ongoing efforts in countering criminality and safeguarding national sovereignty.
It then used the opportunity to express condolences to the families affected by insecurity, particularly, the people of Benue and Niger States.
Furthermore, the PGF restated its collective resolve to support the President’s national security architecture especially, his action in Benue State.
It also expressed support for inter-agency coordination, community policing and grassroots intelligence sytsems, just as it observed the need for greater investment in surveillance infrastructure and the welfare of frontline personnel.
The Forum affirmed that the APC remains the most institutionally-coherent political platform in Nigeria presently, with an unmatched record of reforms, electoral succeses and national unity.
It also acknowledged the resignation of APC ‘s National Chairman, HE Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, stating that it was in tandem with the party’s continued evolution.
The PGF noted its unshakeable belief in a united, just and prosperous Nigeria, and noted that it was commited to working collaboratively to deliver bold reforms, strengthen institutional trust and accelerate socio-economic development across all geopolitical zones.
In addition, it resolved to remain faithful stewards of APC values, leveraging state-level innovation and collaboration to transform Nigeria from the bottom up.
The Governors encouraged Nigerians at home and abroad to rally behind President Tinubu and the APC as the nation moves towards a more secure, inclusive and forward-looking future.
The 2-day meeting was rounded off with a courtesy visit to the Oba of Benin, HRM Oba Ewuare II, who urged the State Chief Executives to become vessels of development and champions of growth, and a townhall meeting attended by the leading lights of the party from across the country.
