Legendary Musician, Sunny Ade Becomes Rotary District 9111’s Global End Polio Ambassador

Legendary Juju music maestro,  King Sunny Ade has become the latest Global End Polio Ambassador for Rotary International District 9111.

KSA, as he is fondly called was decorated yesterday, Sunday, July 13, 2025 by the Doyen of all Districts in Nigeria, Past District Governor, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi at the Installation of Rotarian (Prince) Henry Olubowale Akinyele as the second District Governor of Rotary International District 9111. 

He has joined other Ambassadors like Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, Angelique Kidjo, Akiin Tofowomo, Kate Henshaw,  Ali Baba and Itzhak Periman who are lending their voices and platforms to advocate for the global eradication of Polio. 

While accepting his award at the installation, KSA said he would be committed to helping Rotary achieve its goal of a polio-free world by raising awareness about the vaccine – preventable disease. 

The event which had KSA and his African Beats,  and Nigeria’s most prestigious live band, Shuga Band on the band stand also featured the conferment of Humanitarian Service awards on five personalities, namely First Lady of Kebbi State, Her Excellency, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, Minister of Interior, Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, Media Mogul, Prince Bisi Olatilo, as well as well-known philanthropists, Hakeem Oyeneyin, Wale Adegbite and Tola Awosika.

KSA’s choice, according to the District Governor, Rtn Henry Akinyele, was because of his global following and huge fan base, which cut across age groups and generation.

On hand to decorate the new Ambassador were The Rotary Foundation Trustee, Rtn Ijeoma Pearl Okoro, Past Rotary International Vice President, Yinka Babalola, Doyen of Past District Governor, former Minister, Prince Julius Adeluyi-Adelusi, Rtn Joshua Hassan, Chair, Nigeria National Polio Plus Committee and Royal fathers.

Other dignitaries at the  Royal Installation were Secretary to the Lagos State Govenment (SSG), Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin and executives of Providus Bank.
