Gov Diri Urges Support For Servicemen As 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Holds

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri says the well-being of servicemen in Nigeria should be accorded utmost priority.

Governor Diri who stated this at 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day in Yenagoa, called on corporate organisations and private individuals to support the welfare of members of the armed forces.

His words: “I am persuaded that the welfare of those who stand sentinel between us and danger is inextricably linked to our prosperity, morale and security.

I am grateful to President Bola Tinubu, in his capacity as Commander -in-Chief, and to the senior military leadership for their unrelenting efforts to improve conditions of service and the welfare of our gallant soldiers.”

Governor Diri later led others to lay wreaths at the cenotaph.

In attendance were the Senator representing Bayelsa East , Senator Benson Agadaga, Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Abraham Ingobere, Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Justice Matilda Abrakasa Ayemieye, former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Peremobowei Ebebi, immediate past Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State and Chairman, Bayelsa State Elders Council, Retired Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, Members of the Bayelsa State Assembly, Secretary to Government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei,  members of the Nigerian Legion, Bayelsa State Chapter, Service Commanders, Serving and retired military officers, Chairman, Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council, King Bubaraye Dakolo, and other top government functionaries.
