Tinubu Orders Full-Scale Security Operations To Rescue Niger Mass Kidnap Victims

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to immediately launch a massive, coordinated rescue operation for citizens recently abducted in Niger State.

Expressing deep fury and sadness over the mass abduction and the tragic killing of innocent citizens by terrorists, the President vowed that the perpetrators will face swift justice.

President Tinubu’s directive was contained in an official statement issued on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, by Bayo Onanuga, his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

“Those who carried out this cowardly attack on defenceless Nigerians are enemies of peace and humanity,” President Tinubu stated. “They will not go scot-free.”

Extending his deepest condolences to the grieving families, the President reassured them of the federal government’s unwavering commitment to securing the freedom of their loved ones.

“You are not alone. The entire nation shares your anguish,” the President said. Tinubu further assured, “We will not rest until your sons, daughters, mothers, and fathers are brought back safely to you.”

To ensure maximum accountability and rapid results, President Tinubu directed the Service Chiefs to provide regular, direct briefings on the progress of the rescue and intelligence operations until every single missing person is safely accounted for.

Reaffirming the nation’s resilience against criminal elements, the President added: “Terror will not cow Nigeria. We will defend our people, protect our communities, and uphold the sanctity of human life.”

The President also extended his solidarity to the government and people of Niger State during this difficult period, pledging that the Federal Government will deploy all necessary assets to provide relief, support recovery efforts, and reinforce long-term security in the region.
