‎‎Gov Alia Mourns Eagle Online Publisher Dotun Oladipo

‎Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia,  has expressed deep sadness over the death of veteran journalist and founder of The Eagle Online, Mr. Dotun Oladipo, describing his passing as a painful loss to the Nigerian media industry and the country at large.

‎Governor Alia, in a condolence message, said Oladipo’s death at the age of 56 has robbed Nigeria of an accomplished journalist whose career spanned some of the country’s most respected media organisations, including Newswatch, Nigerian Tribune, PUNCH, Nigerian Compass and The Sun.

He noted that Oladipo’s transition from traditional journalism to digital publishing demonstrated his ability to adapt to the changing demands of the profession.

‎The Governor particularly commended the late journalist’s contribution to the growth and professionalisation of online journalism in Nigeria through The Eagle Online, as well as his service as President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP).

He said Oladipo’s leadership and subsequent work with the Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society reflected his commitment to strengthening the media profession, mentoring practitioners and promoting collaboration.

‎He extended his heartfelt condolences to Oladipo’s wife, Mrs. Taiwo Oladipo, his children, members of his family, colleagues, friends and the entire Nigerian journalism community,  praying to God to grant them the strength and comfort to bear the irreparable loss.

‎The Governor prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest and preserve the memories of his service to journalism and the nation.
