Ooni, Obi Of Onitsha Hail Umo Eno After “Most Outstanding Governor” Award Win
In a glittering ceremony attended by the cream of Nigerian society, Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, , and the Obi of Onitsha, His Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, CFR, have commended the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, for his visionary leadership and people-centered governance.
The royal fathers gave the commendation on Thursday at the Daily Times Centenary Heroes Awards, held at The ThisDay Dome, Abuja.
Governor Eno was honoured as the ” Most Outstanding Governor in Nigeria – South-South” for his sterling performance since assumption of office.
He was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Information, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, and the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ekerete Udoh.
Presenting the award, the Obi of Onitsha described Governor Eno in glowing terms.
“I have been to Akwa Ibom State on several occasions, and I am very impressed with the work he is doing, particularly his commitment to the welfare of the people. We encourage him to keep the flag flying,” Igwe Achebe stated.
In his remarks, the Ooni of Ife lauded the impactful projects in Akwa Ibom State, describing the Governor as a “good man” and a “performer.”
“He is a good man. He is doing well. Please extend my greetings to him,” Oba Ogunwusi said.
The event featured a keynote address by the former President of the African Development Bank, Prof. Akinwumi Adesina who hailed Daily Times for standing the test of time and playing a pivotal role in Nigeria’s development.
The occasion, chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume drew a distinguished audience.
Among those present were Governors Umaru Bago, Abdullahi Sule and Dauda Lawal of Niger, Nasarawa and Zamfara States respectively; APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu; alongside former Ministers, royal fathers, captains of industry and other prominent Nigerians.
Other distinguished Nigerians were also recognized at the awards ceremony for their outstanding contributions to national development.
The Daily Times Centenary Heroes Awards was organized to celebrate 100 years of the Daily Times newspaper and to honor individuals and institutions that have made remarkable impact in public service, business, and community development.
