BUA Group Warns Public Against Fake Refinery Vendor Registration Scheme
BUA Group, a leading Nigerian multi-sector conglomerate, has issued a strong warning to the public regarding a fraudulent scheme targeting potential vendors for its refinery subsidiary.
The corporate entity, chaired by billionaire industrialist Abdul Samad Rabiu, raised the alarm after detecting unscrupulous activities by an individual circulating unauthorized “Vendor Registration Request” emails.
According to a statement released by BUA Group management, the scam falsely claims that the company has contracted a dedicated agent to oversee and process vendor registrations on behalf of the BUA Refinery.
“We hereby state that BUA Refinery has at no time mandated or designated any individual, agent, agency, or organization to conduct vendor registration on its behalf, and does not intend to do so,” the management clarified, completely distancing the subsidiary from the scheme.
The conglomerate urged the public to safeguard their personal and corporate information, advising against engaging with any third-party entities claiming to represent the brand.
“The general public is advised to be very cautious and not provide any details to any individual or agency claiming to be acting on BUA’s behalf,” the statement added. “Please report any suspicious links, emails, mobile numbers, or fraudulent individuals claiming to be agents of BUA Group or its subsidiaries to relevant security agencies for prompt action.”
