A Philanthropist Impacting Humanity — Usmanu Danfodiyo University VC Lauds ASR Founder Abdul Samad Rabiu
Abdul Samad Rabiu, the billionaire Chairman of BUA Group and founder of ASR Africa, has received high praise from the Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Prof. Bashir Garba, for his relentless efforts in impacting lives across the African continent.
The commendation follows ASR Africa’s donation of a newly constructed ₦250 million administrative building to the university’s College of Health Sciences. The project was funded under the ASR Africa Tertiary Education Grants Scheme, an initiative dedicated to strengthening educational infrastructure in higher institutions across Nigeria and Africa.

Expressing his gratitude during the commissioning, Prof. Garba described the BUA Chairman as a transformative philanthropist whose interventions consistently support public institutions.
“Wherever I go as a public servant to head an institution, I regularly encounter the impact of the donations by ASR Africa through its chairman,” Prof. Garba said.
“This project being commissioned today is another testimony of such encounters as the Vice Chancellor of this great institution,” he added.
“This facility proved helpful when the university was seeking accreditation conducted by the Medical and Dental Council, as it complemented the university’s infrastructure critical to the accreditation exercise,” Prof. Garba further pointed out.
He assured the ASR Africa team—led to the event by the Managing Director and CEO, Dr. Ubon Ubon—that the university would ensure the maximum utilization and maintenance of the new facility.
Located within the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) complex, the newly minted Abdul Samad Rabiu Administrative Block features 20 staff offices, a Head of Department’s office, a panel room, conveniences, and storage facilities. According to a statement by ASR Africa, the infrastructure is designed to provide a conducive and dedicated workspace to enhance teaching, administration, and research at the college.
