The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed senator Duoye Diri of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Governor-elect of Bayelsa State.
The electoral umpire made the declaration today Friday, February 14 2020.
This position came to be after a close door meeting by top members of the electoral body on the supreme court judgement that sacked Chief David Lyon, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over presentation of forged certificate by his running mate, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.
Lyon who had started preparing for today’s swearing in ceremony was sacked by the apex court yesterday Thursday February 14 2020.
Senator Diri is expected to be presented with Certificate-of-Return with immediate effect.
