The story of their acrimony filter into the public domain when Senator Ajibola Basiru openly took on Asiwaju Badmus at the prayer ground during Eid Kabir celebration in Osogbo, Osun State capital in 2017, a source who is familiar with the state of things told highstreet.ng.
Those who are privy to the development tagged Mr Bashiru’s action a show of shame.
Their quarrel has roots in a federal government contract cornered by billionaire Badmus, multiple sources maintain.
Findings by highstreet.ng revealed the contract has to do with the federal government school feeding programme.
Billionaire Badmus’s sin, according to sources, was going behind Governor Aregbesola to corner the big money contract.
Further checks revealed Senator Basiru took on the wealthy owner of Tuns Farm on behalf of the former governor.
An investigation carried out by highstreet.ng revealed that most of the supplies that have to do with O Meal – former governor Aregbesola’s school feeding programme – was handled by Asiwaju Badmus.
And it was based on “special arrangement” between them.
This was before President Buhari led Federal Government adopted the programme.
“You know Tuns Farm boss was responsible for the supply of eggs and chickens among other things for Aregbesola’s O Meal project… and the fact that the man went behind him to corner the arrangement when the federal government took over the feeding programme did not go well with him(Aregbesola), and Senator Bashiru who was a key player in Aregbesola’s administration” a deep source explains.
And the fact that he could corner such a huge deal without involving them – denying them due benefits – was said to have infuriated Senator Basiru and his boss.
Senator Basiru is one of the trusted men of former governor Aregbesola. He served in the administration of former governor Aregbesola as commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties and later Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
He is largely described as an individual who always sees Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s battle as his, an insider divulged.
Hence his move to take on the billionaire farmer on behalf of the man he has immensely benefitted from.
