Commandant AFCSC Shogbanmu Visits HQ Infantry Corps Centre

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration and foster mutual understanding, the Commandant, Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Air Vice Marshal Alfred Olugbenga Shogbanmu paid a familiarisation visit to the Commander Infantry  Corps  (CIC), on Wednesday 28 January 2026.

Air Vice Marshal Shogbanmu, who assumed office as the 28th Commandant of AFCSC on 7 January 2026, was warmly received at the ICC Headquarters with a Quarter Guard mounted in his honour.

Speaking during the visit, Air Vice Marshal Shogbanmu expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage. He stated that the purpose of the visit was to seek continued synergy and collaboration and foster sustained mutual understanding between both institutions.

He noted that the Infantry Corps Centre plays a critical role in supporting the college, particularly in the area of security and training, and appealed for continued support. According to him, the Centre has always responded promptly whenever the college requires assistance, describing the relationship as invaluable to the effective functioning of the college.

Air Vice Marshal Shogbanmu further described the Commander, Infantry Corps, as a highly respected General whose leadership contributions to the Nigerian Army is widely acknowledged, expressing confidence that his tenure at AFCSC would be smooth and productive under the existing cordial relationship.

In his response, the Commander Infantry Corps  ,Major General GM Mutkut, welcomed the Commandant AFCSC  describing him as a coursemate and a dependable ally of over 37 years. He expressed delight at AVM Shogbanmu’s  appointment as the 28th commandant of the college.

General Mutkut noted that a significant number of students in the college were drawn from the Infantry Corps and commended the college for turning out well trained officers for command and staff responsibilities. He assured the Commandant AFCSC of the Centre’s continued support and collaboration.

This familiarization visit is expected to further consolidate the mutual working relationship between the Infantry Corp Centre and the AFCSC for the benefit of training and overall operational effectiveness of the Armed  Forces of Nigeria.

The visit concluded with the signing of the visitors’ book, exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph.
