Glo Urges Young Girls To Pursue Career In ICT

Technology and digital solutions company, Globacom has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young people to pursue careers in the fields of ICT and called on young girls in Nigeria to be bold in their ambitions, assuring them of the company’s ongoing support at all times.

Speaking at the 13th Girls in ICT Day observance in Lagos. Adeboye Adeniji of Globacom, encouraged secondary school students at the event organized by E-Businesslife Communications Limited, to see themselves as future tech innovators and leaders.

Adeboye Adeniji, who is the company’s Vertical Head, Financial Institutions and High Networth Individuals (HNIs), stressed that girls’ dreams in technology are attainable with the right tools and confidence, urging them to dismiss the notion that tech is solely for boys. She advised the girls to remain curious and persistent learners, highlighting that they are shaping Nigeria’s technological future.

“At Globacom, we know that when girls have the tools, the training, and the confidence, there is no limit to what you can achieve. Whether you dream of becoming a software engineer, a robotics expert, a cybersecurity analyst, or even the next big tech CEO – it’s all possible”, she said.
The event organizer, Mrs. Ufuoma Emuophedaro, who is also the CEO of E-Business Life Communication Limited, emphasized the immense potential of ICT and the importance of empowering girls in the field by breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes.

She said her efforts are geared towards challenging the narratives, breaking down the barriers, defying stereotypes, and paving the way for a “future where every girl, regardless of background or circumstance, feels empowered to pursue her passion for technology.

Aside the lectures, round table discussions and a quiz, the girls were also opportune to demonstrate their self-assembled obstacle-avoiding robots which gave a great inkling of the intellect of the students and the opportunities that the future holds for them.
