“I’m Not For Dapo Abiodun’s Guber Candidacy” – Amosun Declares
Ibikunle Amosun, the immediate past Governor of Ogun State has publicly moved against the reelection bid of Prince Dapo Abiodun, his successor in office.
Dapo Abiodun is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.
Mr. Amosun, a serving senator on the platform of the ruling party, represents the people of Ogun Central in the National Assembly.
Amosun who disclosed Biyi Otegbeye of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as his choice for the state’s 2023 gubernatorial election, made the revelation during an interview with BBC Yoruba on Monday, October 10, 2022.
He reportedly insisted that he would work against Governor Dapo Abiodun, his fellow party man.
This is despite maintaining that his support is for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidential Candidate of the APC, highstreet.ng understands,
He said “If you are talking of the presidential election I will support the presidential candidate of the APC, you all know me, whatever I say is what I always do. But for the governorship race, I and my supporters are not supporting the APC governorship candidate here.

“It is Biyi Otegbeye, that is the person I am supporting. Otegbeye of the ADC.”, Mr Amosun responded when asked who has his support for the 2023 governorship election in Ogun State.
Mr. Otegbeye, a managing director at Regency Alliance Insurance PLC from Ogun West, has Olatunde Awonuga an indigene of Ogun waterside in Ogun East as running mate.
The same scenario played during the 2019 gubernatorial election when Amosun as APC governor backed Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) against Dapo Abiodun the candidate of his party.
Interestingly, in spite of Mr. Amosun’s opposition, Abiodun emerged victorious in the 2019 gubernatorial poll.
