Another gubernatorial election will be held in Osun State in 2026.
Governor Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has anyone who emerges as the candidate of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) as a formidable contender for the gubernatorial seat.
Mrs, Modupe Adeleke-Sanni, who is the title holder of Yeyeluwa of Ede Land – the hometown of the Adelekes – is the immediate elder sister of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Earlier report by highstreet.ng indicates she determines who gets what in the administration of his blood brother.
Interestingly, her role in the administration has reportedly gone beyond that, she now determines which politicians, especially of the PDP extraction, should be in the good book of the executive governor, an insider told in highstreet.ng.
The development, an insider said, has transformed several of PDP’s top shots in the state outsiders in a government they helped to enthrone.
This was what played out in the case of popular lawmaker, Oluwole Oke, before his exit from the PDP, another insider pointed out.
Our source specifically cited an instance where Yeye Dupe Adeleke outrightly overruled the governor when he reached out to the representative of the people of Oriade/Obokun federal constituency for a truce, and also promised to look into all the issues raised during their (Governor Adeleke and Honourable Oke) conversation.
All these, in spite of his outstanding performance, sources insisted, are said to be doing a great damage to the Mr Adeleke’s ambition to return for another term of four years.
