KRAD Advocates Unified Approach Against Drug Abuse In Osun

Kunle Adegoke, a leading aspirant for the ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Osun gubernatorial poll in 2026, and advocate for youth development, has issued an urgent call to Community Development Associations (CDAs) and the Council of Obas in Osun State to launch a concerted war against drug abuse to safeguard the future of the state’s youth.

Recognizing the growing threat of drug abuse among young people, Adegoke emphasized the critical role of traditional and community institutions in addressing this menace. “Our youths are the heartbeat of Osun’s future, and we cannot afford to lose them to the scourge of drugs,” he stated. “I appeal to our revered Obas and CDAs to unite in this fight, leveraging their authority and influence to protect our communities.”

Adegoke urged the Council of Obas to mobilize traditional rulers to educate families, enforce local sanctions against drug peddling, and partner with law enforcement to curb the spread of illicit substances. He also called on CDAs to initiate awareness campaigns, establish rehabilitation support systems, and engage youths in skill-building and recreational programs to deter drug use.

“This is a collective responsibility,” Adegoke said. “By working together, we can create drug-free communities where our youths can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.”

He further proposed the formation of local task forces, comprising community leaders, youth representatives, and security agencies, to monitor and address drug-related activities. Adegoke pledged his support for these initiatives, including advocacy for government-backed programs to provide counseling and vocational training for affected youths.
