Minister Rauf Aregbesola’s Men Exiting APC
A trusted ally of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior in the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, is on his way out of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The associate, described as a strong believer in Mr. Aregbesola’s style of leadership, is Barrister Kolapo Alimi.
The opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with Ademola Adeleke as its candidate, is reported to be the party of choice of the Erin Osun-born politician who served in the administration of Aregbesola as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
His official declaration for the opposition party, according to information, holds Saturday, April 23, 2022.
Osun State gubernatorial election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
Interestingly, the contest is seen by those who are familiar with South-West state politics as a straight battle between the incumbent governor Oyetola of the APC and Senator Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the PDP.

“You know Mr. Alimi is a senior member of The Osun Progressives (TOP)… His movement to the PDP will see thousands of members going with him to his new party, a source told highstreet.ng.
Mr. Alimi joining the PDP is just a tip of what to expect in the nearest future in Osun APC… I can confirm to you that there is a long list of aggrieved party bigwigs toeing the same path in a matter of days, the source insisted.
And sadly, the latest development is clearly an indication that there is no end in sight as far as the fight between Aregbesola and the man (Oyetola) who served in his administration as Chief of Staff and later took over the reign of power in 2018, is concerned.
