Revealed! What Gov Oyetola Is Doing To Win Osun Guber Contest
Available information has indicated that the Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola is working relentlessly to ensure victory in the fast-approaching gubernatorial election in Osun State.
Mr. Oyetola is the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He has a major challenger in Senator Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who he narrowly defeated during the 2018 governorship election.
Another gubernatorial election in Osun State is scheduled to hold on July 16, 2022.
And asides from the opposition parties, Governor Oyetola and the APC in the state have an internal party wrangling to contend with.
As a matter of fact, Oyetola is having a running battle with Rauf Aregbesola, the man he served in his government as Chief of Staff and later succeeded him in 2018.
The discord between the duo has reportedly put the party in unhealthy shape with aggrieved members exiting its fold.
Governor Oyetola won the APC governorship ticket against the wish of Mr. Aregbesola – the Minister of the Interior in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari – who had vowed his successor would be limited to a single term of four years.
And said to be concerned by the internal party crisis and the fact that it could have a negative effect on his reelection bid, Mr. Oyetola and his close allies are said to have started reaching out to aggrieved members, especially former governor Rauf Aregbesola and those in his camp.
Those that have already left the fold of the party are not spared in the effort, a source told highstreet.ng.
“They are not limiting their efforts to saving the party from losing power to the opposition to talking to top members of the party only, they are equally having conversations with embittered members at the grassroots level”, the source insisted.
