Why Discussion Hakeem Muri-Okunola Will Limit Sanwo-Olu To Single Term Continues To Gain Ground
Hakeem Muri-Okunola has an ultimate ambition.
He reportedly wants to be governor of Lagos State in 2023.
And a discussion that his ambition will possibly limit governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to a single term in office is already taking centre stage.
Muri-Okunola, popularly known as HMO, is the number one civil servant – Head of Service – in the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Interestingly, Governor Sanwo-Olu, the man who has been adjudged as an excellent performer by many and Hakeem Muri-Okunola have Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the shot caller in the affairs of Lagos State, to thank as far as their current positions are concerned.

Muri-Okunola, the holder of bachelor’s degree in Law from the Lagos State University – 1995 – and a master’s degree in international business law from the Queen Mary & Westfield College, the University of London – 1999 -, who assumed office as Lagos State Head Of Service in December 2018, began his career as the personal assistant to former Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in 2003.
Those who are familiar with state things have traced the latest discussion throwing up HMO as the fellow anointed to be in charge in 2023 to recent undertakings of the connected individual and those who believe in him.
A report by popular news platform, Thisday Newspaper, suggested “H”, as Hakeem Muri-Okunola is also referred to by close allies, and his backers are truly not giving things to chances.
“He has been reaching out across religious and political divides to make his dream of governing Nigeria’s most important state come true…he has reportedly been playing the Bourdillon politics by always visiting the residence of the grandfather of Lagos politics, the man who can make or mar his ambition, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu” the Monday, August 2, 2021 report revealed.

The report further indicated that supporters of 49 years old Muri-Okunola have employed spiritual means to seek the face of God on the governorship ambition in the holy city of Mecca.
And these, according to keen observers of the unfolding events, have given credence to talks that, in spite of his outstanding performance, Governor Sanwo-Olu may be limited to a single term of four years.
