Why It Is Wrong To Say Oba Kuoye Adeleke’s Emergence As Olu Of Imasayi Not Transparent
The newly crowned Olu of Imasailand, Oba (Rtn) Kuoye Lukman Olalekan Adeleke has insisted that his emergence as monarch came through a transparent process.
According to information, his reaction came to be following a recent protest by some individual against his emergence as Paramount ruler of imasayi.
The said protest was reportedly stage-managed by one Rahman Ajayi among others on unsubstantiated claims that Oba Kuoye’s selection and eventual ascension to the throne of his forefathers were not in accordance with custom and tradition of the land.
Kuoye Adeleke, who was number two on the list of the royal families that constitute Oyesokun, had emerged victorious during the selection process conducted by the traditional chiefs with strict supervision of officials of Egbado North Local Government in Ayetoro, Ogun State,Ogun State.
The selection took place in June 2021.
Interestingly, the selection exercise was taken to the local government headquarters when the lives of government officials who were to oversee the selection process became threatened.
Information at the disposal of highstreet.ng revealed Mr Rahman Ajayi, the said mastermind of the protest not to be from Oyesokun Ruling House.
In a bid to put things in proper perspectives, a source who is familiar with state of things provided 10 basic facts that suggested Oba Kuoye Adeleke’s selection was valid.
Here are the facts…
- Rahman Ajayi is not from Oyesokun Ruling House
- Kuoye is the 2nd on the list of the Royal families that constitute Oyesokun Ruling House
- There are eleven families that constitute Oyesokun and eight gave their nods before the official nomination which was held in a very conducive environment screened by the family and security operatives
- Because the LG officials were threatened, the State government instructed them to take the selection to the LG HQ which was in line with the Chiefs law of Ogun State, 2006
- One basic fact that was not known to Rahman Ajayi and his group was that they don’t know there’s seniority among the Kingmakers
- There are only two surviving Kingmakers, Odofin and Asaba
- After the installation, Olu of Imasayi went into seclusion (Ipebi) and all the rites therein were completed according to the dictates of ifa oracle
- Since the emergence of the new Olu, things have been going on well in Imasayi and Imasayi Indigenes both home abroad are happy to have an exposed monarch
- Mr. Akinleye R.A (Elesemeji) has been a controversial personality in Imasayi till today and this also precipitated his suspension from the palace by late Oba George Olude, 1982-1989, and the suspension is also inherited by Oba Gbadebo Idowu Oni, Aribio III, which was not lifted during his thirty-year reign.
