Zenith Bank, with Ebenezer Onyeagwu as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, no doubt is occupying an enviably position in the league of top financial institutions in Nigeria.

And available data has continued to attest to this.

 Founded in May 1990 by consummate banker Jim Ovia, and with a capital base of $4 million at inception, Zenith Bank has grown to rank the best among equal in the nation’s financial sector.

Zenith Bank, today, boasts of over five hundred (500) branches and business offices in all the state capitals, and major towns and metropolitan centres in Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Those who should know maintained the 2020 audited financial report which revealed the bank’s total assets as “increased significantly by 34% from N6.35 trillion to N8.48 trillion” is an indication that Ebenezer Onyeagwu and his team have not deviated from strategies responsible for the tremendous growth of the brand has witnessed over the years.

From Adaora Umeoji, who is currently the bank’s Deputy Managing Director, to Umar Shuaib Ahmed, Temitope Fasoranti, Dennis Olisa, and Henry Oroh – all Executive Directors – Mr. Onyeagwu’s team are evidently doing great as far as the running of the bank is concerned, a source who is familiar with the operation of the bank maintained.

Adaora Umeoji, who rose to the rank of Deputy Managing Director after over 20 years of cognate banking and broad executive management experience, is a graduate of University of Jos. She holds MBA and Doctorate Degree in Biz Admin from University of Calabar and Apollos University, Great Falls, Montana, USA respectively. She’s the promoter of the Pink Breath Cancer Care Foundation which supports several healthcare programs within the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

Interestingly, Mrs Umeoji was said was have had her eye on the position of the bank’s MD before it eventually swung Mr. Onyeagwu’s Way.

Mr. Umar Shuaib Ahmed, a 1990 graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria with 23 years experience in banking,  joined Zenith Bank Plc in June 2006. He started his banking career in 1993 and previously worked with Nigeria International Bank (Citibank), Liberty Bank, and Broad Bank. He was a General Manager responsible for private sector businesses in the Abuja region as well as supervising some branches in the northwest and northeastern regions of the bank before his elevation to his current position.

Dr. Temitope Fasoranti who had all his degrees – BSc, Masters, and PhD in Economics – graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife in 1988. Before he was appointed Executive Director, he was the General Manager/Group Zonal Head overseeing several regions in Lagos. With over 28 years in Nigerian Banking Sector, his experience covers Treasury, Corporate Finance, Corporate Banking, Retail Banking, Risk Management, Branch Management, and Zonal Management.

Dennis Olisa a Chartered Accountant is a bank executive with over 27 years experience. An expert in Treasury, Banking Operations, Credit Risk Management, Telecommunication, Oil and Gas, Internal Control, he has attended several international courses including INSEAD Business School, Fontainebleau, France; Havard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA; Booth School of Business, University of Chicago, USA; London School of Economics (LSE) UK, and Oxford Princeton Programme, Oxford, United Kingdom.
Prior to his appointment, he was a General Manager and Chief Inspector of the bank, overseeing the Internal Audit and Inspection of the Zenith Bank Group.

 Henry Oroh who has worked in various Groups and Departments within the organization, joined Zenith Bank in February 1999. He also has wealth of knowledge in Operations, Information Technology, Treasury, Marketing, including the Manufacturing, Food and Beverages, Pharmaceuticals, Oil and Gas, Public Sector, Consumer, as well as Corporate Banking and Business Development.
Mr Oroh obtained Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Benin, Edo State, and Lagos State University respectively. He also holds a LLB Degree from the University of London.
