2021 F1 World Championship: Get French Grand Prix On DStv Live This Weekend

Viewers on DStv can look forward to the seventh round of the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship, the French Grand Prix, live from Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet on the afternoon of Sunday 20 June 2021 at 2pm on SuperSport Motorsport (DStv channel 215).

The sixth round in Baku, Azerbaijan was a drama-filled affair that ended with Sergio Perez claiming his first win as a Red Bull Racing-Honda driver.

Victory fell into Perez’s lap after teammate Max Verstappen crashed out with a tyre blowout five laps from the finish. At the restart, defending Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton went past Perez only to lock up as he failed to capitalize on Verstappen’s misfortune.

But while luck was on his side, Perez did race himself into a position to profit from any mishaps and victory has set the perfect platform for what promises to be a fruitful campaign for the Mexican and the Austrian Constructor.

“They have given me a massive opportunity,” said Perez, who joined Red Bull ahead of the 2021 season.

“We didn’t have the start of the season we were hoping for. I found my adaptation harder than expected but we have been working extremely hard since day one with the engineers back at the factory.

“Finally we got a very good result for the team.

“Getting your first win in Formula 1 is something unbelievable but getting a first win with a new family, with a new team, I feel like it gets you together more.”

Verstappen continues to lead the way in the Drivers’ Championship standings despite his crash in Baku. Hamilton is four points back followed by Perez, Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc who started on pole position in Azerbaijan.

The Formula 1 circus will return to France for the first time since 2019 this weekend. Hamilton has won the last two races at Circuit Paul Ricard.

Michael Schumacher is the most successful driver in French Grand Prix history with eight wins, two more than Alain Prost.
