Why They Are Saying Aregbesola’s Defeat Is A Big Win For Omisore

Senator Iyiola Ajani Omisore, a former Deputy Governor of Osun State, is reportedly in a jubilation mood at the moment.

And the reason for this is simple, his chance of returning to the senate just become brighter.

This development, highstreet.ng pieced together, is not unconnected with the recent defeat suffered by former governor Rauf Aregbesola during the Saturday, February 19 gubernatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress APC in Osun state.

Aregbesola, who had earlier maintained that governor Oyetola would be limited to a single term, had Moshood Adeoti – the man he favoured and openly canvassed for – thoroughly defeated by the incumbent.

Adeoti managed to garner only 12,921 votes at the primary contest.

Governor Oyetola was declared the winner of the contest with a total of 221,169 votes.

The outcome of the party primary is said to have transformed Mr. Omisore as better positioned in the scheme of things as far Osun East District is concerned.

Most importantly his bid to return to the senate in 2023, highstreet.ng understands.

Earlier report by highstreet.ng indicated the former federal lawmaker who
represented Ife\Ijesa Senatorial District at the red chamber of the nation’s National Assembly is plotting a 2023 return.

And he is said to have a strong opposition to his dream in Aregbesola who currently serves in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as Minister of Interior.

Omisore and Aregbola are both from Ife/Ijesha senatorial district.

But Mr Omisore appears to be at peace at the moment especially now that the man who has reportedly vowed he would not be allowed to return to the senate in 2023 has been knocked off in the scheme of things.

“With Governor Oyetola winning a reelection ticket which translates to religation of Aregbesola in his domain, Omisore and his followers believe the coast just got clearer for senate return bid, a source pointed out.
