Ekiti State Gets New Gov Today As Abiodun Oyebanji Is Sworn In
Abiodun Oyebanji has been sworn in as the new governor of Ekiti State.
Oyebanji, who served in the administration of Kayode Fayemi as the Secretary to the State Government, was elected governor on June 18, 2022.
He polled 187,057 votes to defeat his two closest challengers, Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His rivals scored 82,211 and 67,457 votes respectively.
The swearing in ceremony took place at the Ekiti Parapo Pavillion, New Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, today October 16, 2022.
Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye’s inauguration was conducted by the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye.
The ceremony had in attendance the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Party (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Rotimi Akeredolu and Dapo Abiodun of Lagos, Ondo and Ogun States respectively.
Also present were the new governor’s predecessors, Kayode Fayemi, Ayodele Fayose and Otunba Niyi Adebayo.
