The charges filed against a former gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Babatunde Gbadamosi, his wife, Folasade and singer Azeez Fashola, otherwise known as Naira Marley have been withdrawn.
The Lagos state government dropped charges against the trio today, April 8, 2020, after their arraignment for disregarding government orders on Coronavirus pandemic.
The defence counsel, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa SAN, while briefing journalists at the end of the court proceedings, revealed all the four-count charges against the accused have been dropped by the government but with a clause.
The trio would tender an apology to President Muhammadu Buhari and the governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Adegboruwa stated.
Mr Gbadamosi, his wife, Folasade and Naira Marley were among guests at birthday party actress Funke Akindele staged for her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello.
On Monday, April 6, 2020, Funke Akindele and her husband were charged to court and subsequently convicted for disobeying President Muhammadu Buhari’s lockdown order to contain the spread of Coronavirus ravaging the world over.
