“Testament To Who We Are” – Tony Elumelu On Fresh Graduates Of GMAP

“For me, these young UBA Graduates are a testament to who we are; a truly pan-African Group, that invests in African talent”, African business leader, Tony Elumelu disclosed today, May 2, 2024, at the graduation ceremony of the 8th cohort of United Bank for Africa’s “Graduate Management Accelerated Program (GMAP)”.

GMAP, according to information, is a program focused on nurturing young African professionals and equipping them with the skill set to drive the deepening of the financial services sector in Africa.

With 398 young Africans, out of over 100,000 applicants, from across Africa, graduating in this cohort, the event was held at the top-notch hospitality centre, Eko Hotel.

Elumelu, who chairs Heirs Holdings, and Transnational Corporation (Transcorp Group) – Nigerian conglomerates with interest in Insurance, financial services, hospitality, power, technology and oil & gas – maintained every moment at the life-transforming gathering reminds him of “pivotal training and development as well as mentoring” that shaped him into what he has become.

“This year, 398 young Africans, out of over 100,000 applicants, from across Africa, will graduate in this cohort. After months of rigorous training across departments, from Treasury to Sales, Marketing to Customer Service, Financial Accounting to Risk Management, these talented professionals are now equipped to accelerate their banking careers and drive progress on the continent”, the foremost banker and chairman of UBA who insisted the milestone is more than just numbers stated.
