Insiders Reveal Oyetola’s Choice Ahead Osun 2026 Guber
The choice of Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, for the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket in Osun State has just been revealed.
Another governorship election in Osun will be held in 2026.
Oyetola, as the party leader in the state courtesy of his cabinet position in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, will, interestingly, determine who emerges as the candidate of his party ahead of the governorship election.
Oyetola governed the state for a single term of four years between 2018 and 2022.
Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the current Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), is Mr Oyetola’s choice, sources within Osun APC have confided in highstreet.ng.
highstreet.ng understands his decision to favour Oyebamiji’s ambition came to be after he rescinded his plan to contest against the incumbent, Ademola Adeleke, who defeated and truncated his reelection bid in 2022.

Said to be one the closest allies of Oyetola and a top member of Ileri Oluwa – Oyetola’s political movement – , Oyebamiji served in the previous administrations of Rauf Aregbesola and Adegboyega Oyetola as Commissioner for Finance.
He, also, briefly served as Special Adviser to Gboyega Oyetola in the ministry of Marine and Blue Economy before his appointment as CEO of National Inland Waterways Authority.
Oyebamiji’s candidacy will definitely transform a unifying factor, insiders who are familiar with the arrangement told highstreet.ng.
“He won’t be a hard sell to APC members and Osun people at large. He’s from the same senatorial district (Osun West) as the current governor… And you know Osun West is the district with the least years of rule”, an insider pointed out.
