How Oyetola Knocked Omisore Out Of Osun Guber Race

Information filtering in revealed the ambition of Iyiola Omisore, a former Deputy Governor and Senator, to rule Osun State appears to have once again met a brick wall.

Omisore previously ran for the governorship in 2014 and 2022 against Ogbeni Rauf Aregbola and Adegboyega Oyetola/Ademola Adeleke, respectively.

The Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with six other aspirants, has been disqualified from taking part in the party’s upcoming governorship primary.

And this all thanks to his rift with the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola – the man he helped in securing victory against Senator Ademola Adeleke – now governor – in 2018.

Omisore’s disqualification follows the release of the report of a screening committee headed by Chief Obinna Uzoh, which revealed failure to meet the mandatory nomination requirements as the reasons the seven aspirants were axed.

Other affected aspirants are Babatunde Haketer Oralusi, Oyedotun Babayemi, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, Benedict Alabi, Adekunle Rasheed Adegoke, and Senator Babajide Omoworare.

The committee maintained they failed to provide evidence of sponsorship by at least five (5) fully registered and financially up-to-date party members from each Local Government Area in Osun State, as required under Articles 9.3(i) and 31.2(ii) of the APC Constitution and Paragraph 6(c) of the party’s guidelines.

Interestingly, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, who is former Governor Oyetola’s choice and another aspirant, Mulikat Abiola Jimoh, were cleared.

Multiple sources with unrestricted access to those who call the shots in APC confided in highstreet.ng that the screening committee was primarily emplaced to take Omisore out of the equation and pave way for Bola Oyebamiji, Oyetola’s anointed candidate.

Earlier report by highstreet.ng equally indicated Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji has always been Minister Oyetola’s favoured candidate.

The Osun APC governorship primary is scheduled to hold on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

And whoever picks the APC ticket has the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke to contend with at the 2026 gubernatorial poll.
