Abdul Samad Rabiu’s BUA Cement Plc Unveils 3Million Metric Tonnes Plant In Sokoto
BUA Cement (Sokoto) Line 4 Cement Plant, the project that means a whole lot to exemplary industrialist, Abdul Samad Rabiu has been commissioned.
The official commissioning of the multibillion naira factory, a 3Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum capacity plant, held yesterday, January 27, 2022.
It was commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari who also oversaw the groundbreaking ceremony for BUA Cement plant – Sokoto Line 5 – in the largely adjudged peaceful Kalambaina community of Sokoto State.

Interestingly, the newly commissioned plant brings the total production capacity of BUA Cement Nigeria to 11Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum.
And for Mr Rabiu, who now validly occupies the position of the second richest Nigerian, and his organisation the investment in the cement industry will continue “until Nigeria is self-sufficient and cement is made available, accessible, and affordable for all Nigerians”.
In his opening remarks, Chairman Rabiu hinted at BUA Group’s plan to up its cement production capacity to 17 million Metric Tonnes Per Annum with “construction of two new plants of 3 million metric tonnes each.
Abdul Samad Rabiu who expressed his gratitude to President Buhari for gracing the commissioning despite his busy schedule revealed Edo and Sokoto States as sites of the under-construction cement plants.

“Next year, we intend to complete the construction of two new plants of 3 million metric tonnes each for which construction is ongoing – one in Edo and the other here in Sokoto. We expect these plants to be completed next year which will bring our total production capacity to 17million metric tonnes. We look forward to Your Excellency coming to commission them by the first quarter of 2023 ISA,” BUA founder disclosed.
Speaking at the occasion Mr President, who had the Ministers of Police affairs, Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, Water Resources Hussein Adamu and Trade & Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo on his entourage, commended the founder of BUA Cement, Abdulsamad Rabiu, and his organization for keying into the government’s economic diversification and job creation agenda.

Recognising BUA Cement’s strength, Buhari said: “I am pleased that through these investments, BUA Cement has created employment opportunities for our citizens. Today, BUA is the largest employer of labour in the North-West region”.

Present at the official commissioning were governors Aminu Tambuwal, Abdullahi Ganduje, Abubakar Bagudu, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Sokoto, Kano, Kebbi and Kwara States respectively. Also in attendance were Manir Muhammad Dan Iya the Deputy Governor of Sokoto and Umar Namadi, his Jigawa State counterpart.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan and Senator Aliyu Wamakko who represents the Sokoto North Senatorial District led other members of the red chamber of the national assembly to grace the event.
Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; Aminu Ado Bayero and Nasiru Ado Ibrahim – Emirs of Kano and Bichi respectively – were among the prominent monarchs at the gathering.
Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele was equally among eminent guests that added colours to the ceremony.
While the likes of Dr. Taiwo Afolabi of SIFAX Group, Adesola Adeduntan of First Bank, billionaire Sam Iwuajoku and Tayo Ayeni led other captains of industries to identify with the individual everyone refers to as the man of the moment.
