ACG Babandede Officially Takes Over Leadership At NCS  Zone ‘A’ Headquarters

Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) Charles Orbih, on Friday, 12 September 2025, officially handed over the leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Zone ‘A’ Headquarters to Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Mohammed Babandede, with a call on officers to uphold unity, professionalism, and integrity in service.

In his farewell remarks, DCG Orbih, who has been redeployed to head the Finance, Administration, and Technical Services Department (FATS), described Zone ‘A’ as the “bedrock of the Nigeria Customs Service” and commended officers for their dedication.

“This Zone has consistently upheld the highest standards of excellence, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to national service. From this foundation, the entire Service draws its strength and character”, he said.

Orbih urged officers to extend the same support he enjoyed during his tenure to his successor, stressing that the zone’s continued success depends on collective effort.

“You are inheriting more than an office or a title. You are receiving the trust of dedicated officers and the responsibility of upholding the legacy of excellence that defines Zone ‘A’.” he said to his successor.

Shortly after the formal handover, ACG Babandede assured officers that his leadership would align with the reform agenda of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, particularly in the areas of revenue generation, security, and trade facilitation.

“Anything that will compromise national security, jeopardise public health and safety will not be tolerated”, Babandede declared.

Describing Zone ‘A’ as “the main baby that lays the golden egg” for revenue collection, he pledged to run an inclusive administration anchored on integrity. “I am a team player, I love carrying officers along when we work together, most especially if an officer has integrity. Let us work together as a family, so that we’ll get to the promised land”, he added.
