Aiyedatiwa’s Govt To Complete Banquet Complex Abandoned Since 2007

Ondo State Government has vowed to revisit projects abandoned under previous administrations to rid the state of uncompleted structures and reduce wastage of resources.

This is part of efforts of the administration of Governor Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa towards urban regeneration, especially in Akure, the State capital.

One of such projects identified is the proposed Mordern Banquet Complex project at Alagbaka embarked upon by the administration of Dr. Olusegun Agagu 20 years ago but which has been abandoned since 2007.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engr. Abiola Olawoye, who inspected the structure, located adjacent the Governor’s Office Complex, on Thursday, said the government is reviewing the components of the contract awarded for its construction 20 years ago.

Engr. Olawoye said the ongoing urban renewal development around the Alagbaka GRA has made it a necessity to revisit the project towards ensuring its completion and use.

He added that the ongoing review will help the government in taking a decision of what use the building will be put into when completed.

Already, the site is being cleared to make way for an integrity test on the structure.
