Akpabio Elected President Of The Nigerian Senate

Senator Godwills Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, has been elected the president of the 10th Senate.

His election held during the inauguration of the 10th assembly today, June 13, 2023.

Akpabio, a former minister of Niger Delta Affairs – in the immediate past administration of Muhammadu Buhari – defeated former governor Abdulaziz Yari to emerge as the president of the Nigerian Senate.

Mr. Akpabio who represents the people of Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, is the anointed candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He got 63 votes to trounce Mr. Yari who polled 46 votes.
