The 2nd Annual Conference of Yoruba Traditional Rulers in Yoruba Land tagged OYO 2020 will be hosted by His Imperial Majesty Iku Baba Yeye, Oba Dr. Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo and permanent Chairman Oyo State Council of Obas in Collaboration with HRM Heritage Forum, the 1st world’s largest Forum of traditional rulers.
The 3-Day event is scheduled to hold between Tuesday 7th- Thursday 9th January 2020.
The themes of the Conference are:
1. Sustaining our tangible & intangible heritage for future generations.
2. Digitizing our traditional heritage and local contents for future generations.
This 2nd edition which promises to be very impactful will be bringing the traditional rulers together in love & unity thus charting the path of progress for Yoruba land as a whole.
The maiden edition of this kind of conference in the history of Yoruba Land was held in *1937* when it was hosted by the then Alaafin of Oyo.
However *Heritage Forum* was able to resuscitate it in 2018 when the Ojaja 11, the Ooni of Ile Ife, HIM Oba Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi, hosted it with over 150 Obas from Southwest states in attendance.
For this year’s historic occasion, over 500 Traditional rulers and other guests are being expected.
Part of the highlight of the program is the paper that will be delivered by the Oonirisa himself on the unity and progress of Yoruba land under the host Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
Other activities include the conferment of awards on notable sons & daughters of Yoruba land.
The launching and flagging off some landmark projects of the forum will also be staged which includes Conference of Oloris, Sporting with Alaafin, inauguration of pioneer excos, patrons, councils and special committees, Heritage E-magazine, HeritageKingdom portals* *Royal Fashion Parade by participating states and Exhibition, of our Heritage materials.
This event will have multimedia and digital coverage with live streaming to the whole world.
The state traditional council Chairmen of Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti have already confirmed their participation at the event.
At the end, a joint communiqué will be issued followed by a world press conference of local and international media organisations.
