Former Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo has emerged the Speaker of the Ninth Assembly.

Oluomo, a member of the All Progressives Congress and a three-term lawmaker from Ifo 1 state constituency, was elected the new Speaker by all the 26 members of the assembly.

He was the sole nominee for the seat and was adopted by all the members of the assembly.

Oluomo was a former loyalist of ex-governor Ibikunle Amosun before they had a disagreement prior to the last election.

The assembly also elected Dare Kadiri, a member of APC from Ijebu North II (Ifelodun) constituency as deputy speaker of the assembly.

He was also the sole contestant for the seat and was adopted by other members.
